Board of Directors

Rebecca J. White, Ph.D., NACD.DC, is the James W. Walter Distinguished Chair of Entrepreneurship and Director of the John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center at the University of Tampa. She was elected to our Board of Directors in 2018 and was named Chairperson of the Board in 2024. With more than three decades of executive leadership experience, Dr. White brings invaluable expertise in governance, strategy, and organizational development. During her career in executive leadership, governance training and strategy, Dr. White has built two nationally ranked entrepreneurship programs, cultivating the development of the next generation of business leaders. Her work has included advising companies on vertical integration through strategic acquisitions, and on digital innovation. She previously served on the board of directors of NorthStar Bank, both as Director and Chair of the Assets and Loans Committee and a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Committee. Recognized for her transformative impact, Dr. White has received prestigious awards, including the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Freedoms Foundation Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education. Dr. White holds the NACD Directorship Certification® and earned both an MBA and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.

Odilon Almeida, an operating partner at Advent International, was elected to our Board of Directors in 2025. Mr. Almeida brings more than 40 years of international business expertise to the MarineMax Board, having held senior leadership roles across the financial services, technology and consumer goods sectors. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of ACI Worldwide, a global payments software and solutions provider. During a 17-year tenure at Western Union, Mr. Almeida held increasingly senior general management and operating roles including President of Western Union Global Money Transfer, where he headed the company’s $5 billion consumer business in more than 200 countries and territories. Mr. Almeida serves as the Lead Independent Director at Amerant Bancorp and an Independent Director at NCR Atleos, where he serves on the Audit and Nominating & Governance Committees. He previously served on the board of Millicom International, chairing the Business Conduct and Compliance Committee and serving on the Audit Committee. He was also an executive board member at ACI Worldwide while serving as CEO.

W. Brett McGill, our President and Chief Executive Officer, has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2019. Mr. McGill has more than 30 years of experience in the retail marine industry. He began his career at MarineMax as Director of Information Services in 1998 before being promoted to roles of increasing responsibility including Vice President of Information Technology, Service and Parts, Regional President, Vice President of West Operations and Executive Vice President of Operations. He was named President and Chief Operating Officer of MarineMax in 2017 and became Chief Executive Officer and President in 2018. Since then, Mr. McGill has built MarineMax into the world’s largest recreational boat, yacht and superyacht services company. Under his leadership, the Company has completed numerous strategic acquisitions, including IGY Marinas, Fraser, Northrop & Johnson, Cruisers Yachts and Intrepid Powerboats.

Bonnie Biumi, a retired financial executive, was elected to our Board of Directors in 2024. She brings more than 40 years of public accounting and operational leadership experience across diverse industries and an extensive corporate governance background. From 2007 to 2012, she served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Kerzner International Resorts, Inc., a developer, owner, and operator of destination resorts, casinos, and luxury hotels. Before that, Ms. Biumi held senior-level financial positions at NCL Corporation, Ltd. (NYSE: NCLH), Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. (NYSE: RCL), Neff Corporation, Peoples Telephone Company, Inc., and Price Waterhouse. Ms. Biumi is a member of the Board of Trustees of Kite Realty Group (NYSE: KRG) and the Board of Directors of Caesars Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: CZR) and serves on the Audit Committee of both organizations. In addition, she is Chair of the Audit Committee of privately held Virgin Cruises Limited.  She received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Florida and is a certified public accountant.

George Borst, a corporate leader with extensive experience in the automotive and financial services sectors, was elected to our Board of Directors in 2016. His expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and corporate governance significantly enhances our board's capabilities. Mr. Borst's career includes serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Americas Region of Toyota Financial Services (TFS) from 2002 to 2013. During his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, overseeing TFS's growth from a $20 billion asset company to one of the nation's largest and highest-rated captive finance companies. His responsibilities encompassed all operational and financial activities across North and South America, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of complex organizational structures and international business operations. Prior to his role at TFS, Mr. Borst held various key positions within Toyota, including marketing, product planning, and strategy. His experience as General Manager and Group Vice President of the Lexus Division further broadened his expertise in luxury brand management and customer-centric strategies. From 2013 to 2020, Mr. Borst served as an Executive Advisor to McKinsey & Company, where he helped shape strategic thinking in the automotive and financial sectors. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for PIMCO Funds, further demonstrating his commitment to sound financial stewardship and his ability to contribute to diverse business environments.

Adam M. Johson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NetJets Inc., was elected to our Board of Directors in 2021. Mr. Johnson began his career at NetJets, a Berkshire Hathaway company, in 1996. His tenure is highlighted by strategic leadership roles of increasing importance including President of Global Sales, Marketing and Service; Senior Vice President of NetJets Administrative Services; Senior Vice President of Logistics; and Executive Director of the NetJets Aviation Flight Center, culminating with his appointment as Chairman and CEO in 2015. Over the course of his career as a global business leader, he has established expertise in key operational areas. These include international asset management, global logistics and business strategy. He oversees a business that operates the largest aircraft fleet in the world, spanning 160 countries across five continents. This expertise has enabled Mr. Johnson to make significant contributions to the MarineMax board in areas including corporate governance, long-range strategic planning and global asset management. Mr. Johnson received a bachelor’s degree in business management from The Ohio State University.

Mercedes Romero, NACD.DC, was elected to our Board of Directors in 2022. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Ms. Romero has led global risk management, strategic sourcing and supply chain operations for large organizations. From 2020 to 2025, she served as Global Chief Procurement Officer at Primo Water Corporation (NYSE: PRMW; TSX: PRMW), where she led the strategic procurement and sourcing aspects of its transformation into an international pure-play water company. Ms. Romero's understanding of global business dynamics and her track record of navigating complex international markets have contributed to MarineMax's global risk management strategy. Her strategic insights and analytical approach are drawn from senior leadership roles across diverse sectors, including retail, consumer goods, spirits, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage industries. Prior to joining Primo Water Corporation, Ms. Romero served in positions of increasing global responsibility at companies including Ryder Systems, Inc., Campari Group, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Diageo, Starbucks, Clorox and Procter & Gamble. In addition to her service on the MarineMax board, Ms. Romero is an independent director for John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (NASDAQ: JBSS). She holds the NACD Directorship Certification® and received a degree in civil engineering from University Rafael Urdaneta in Venezuela.

Daniel Schiappa, President, Technology & Services at Arctic Wolf Networks, was elected to our Board of Directors in 2025. Mr. Schiappa brings more than two decades of experience leading global product, R&D, strategy, and cybersecurity teams across high-growth startups and Fortune 500 companies. Previously, Mr. Schiappa was Executive Vice President & Chief Product Officer at Sophos, where he led a business with more than $1 billion of revenue and over 1,000 employees across end-user, network, cloud, and messaging security. Earlier, he held senior leadership positions at RSA (EMC) as Senior Vice President & General Manager, and at Microsoft in multiple general manager roles covering Windows security, identity services, and mobile advertising. In addition, he has held executive roles at Vingage, Kodak/PictureVision, Informix, and Oracle, and is the holder of more than 18 patents. Mr. Schiappa’s expertise in technology strategy, enterprise risk management and cybersecurity oversight – as well as his global operating experience – enable him to support the Company’s strategic growth initiatives.
